Nadia Derwish was born in 1996 in Hasaka, Syria. While studying Chemistry at Al-Furat University in Derazor, Syria, she had to drop out due to the outbreak of the Syrian civil war. She returned to Hasaka and started working in cinema in 2015 at Komina Film a Rojava. She has worked as an assistant director on many feature films (The End Will Be Spectacular, Kobanê, Berbû, Stories of Destroyed Cities, Love in The Face of Genocide), as well as on several short films and documentaries. Currently in Syria, she is preparing a fiction feature film to direct as a member of Komina Film a Rojava.

Nadiya Derwîş di sala 1996’an de li bajarê Hesekê yê Bakur û Rojhilatê Sûriyê ji dayîk bûye. Dema ku di zanîngeha El-Furat a bajarê Dêrezorê de beşa Kîmyayê dixwend, ji ber derketina şerê navxweyî yê Sûriyê neçar ma dev ji xwendina xwe berde. Ew vegeriya Hesekê û di sala 2015’an de li cem Komîna Fîlm a Rojava dest bi karê sînemayê kir. Di gelek fîlmên dirêj de (Ji bo Azadiyê, Kobanê, Berbû, Çîroka Bajarên Wêranbûyî, Evîn di rûyê Qirkirinê de) û her wiha di gelek kurtefîlm û belgefîlman de wek alîkara derhêner xebitî. Niha li Sûriyê, amadekariya fîlmeke dirêj dike ku ewê weke endama Komîna Filman a Rojava derhêneriya wê bike.
